Sue, Bergerac, France

I fell in love with France at age 13 when in French class we read 'Lettres de mon Moulin' by Alphonse Daudet. I promised myself then that I'd move there one day! Several holidays later and with my second husband we fell in love with the Dordogne and bought a little house on a hill near to Bergerac. At first it was planned to be a holiday home but I was offered a job with an English language newspaper in SW France and so we moved permanently. What do we love about our life? Everything!

This postcard is one of several collated as part of collaboration between Dr Michaela Benson and the Migration Museum. A selection of these appears in the Postcards from the British in Europe installation in Departures, the museum's current exhibition exploring four centuries of emigration from Britain, bringing Britain’s emigration story and its emigrants into the national conversation about migration
