From Steve, Poland

Steve, Warsaw, Poland

Hi I'm Steve. The Berlin wall came down in 1989 and with a History degree and no obvious job lined up, I decided to move to Poland to teach English. I started off in a small industrial city in 1993 and moved up to Warsaw 4 years later. Warsaw has become an I internationally diverse European capital which has given me many opportunities for work, social life and education. Strangely enough, despite the languages, different tastes and family-centred life, I seem to fit in here better than I ever did in the UK!

This postcard is one of several collated as part of collaboration between Dr Michaela Benson and the Migration Museum. A selection of these appears in the Postcards from the British in Europe installation in Departures, the museum's current exhibition exploring four centuries of emigration from Britain, bringing Britain’s emigration story and its emigrants into the national conversation about migration
