From Penny, Germany

Penny, Cologne, Germany

During my studies at the University of Exeter, I did a year abroad where I lived and worked in Cologne for 10 months in 2015-16. There, I unexpectedly fell in love with the city…. And a man! After university I moved out here again for good. I come from Stroud in the Cotswolds, but have now been living in Germany for 3 years. My favourite thing about living in Germany are the gorgeous Autumn colours which seem to last longer than in the UK.

This postcard is one of several collated as part of collaboration between Dr Michaela Benson and the Migration Museum. A selection of these appears in the Postcards from the British in Europe installation in Departures, the museum's current exhibition exploring four centuries of emigration from Britain, bringing Britain’s emigration story and its emigrants into the national conversation about migration
