Bobby, France

We bought a holiday studio in 1988 in the are (sept. 66) and in 2000 we retired here we felt so much at home. We bought a house with a jungle of a 'garden' as my husband's project was (and remains) to create a garden. We moved from Portsmouth. Over the years, I was elected to the council, as we are totally accepted as village members. I will be retiring in March because of Brexit but also because 81 is too old to continue for another 6 years. I speak fluent French and this is my home.

This postcard is one of several collated as part of collaboration between Dr Michaela Benson and the Migration Museum. A selection of these appears in the Postcards from the British in Europe installation in Departures, the museum's current exhibition exploring four centuries of emigration from Britain, bringing Britain’s emigration story and its emigrants into the national conversation about migration
